WICV 2024 | Thematic Summit “Secure Navigation: Ensuring Cyber and Data Security” Wraps Up

On October 18, 2024, the thematic summit “Secure Navigation: Ensuring Cyber and Data Security” was successfully held as part of the 2024 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference (WICV 2024) in Beijing. The summit, organized by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), was chaired by Yu Xiaohui, President of the CAICT. Sui Jing, Director-General of Cybersecurity Administration Bureau of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT),attended the summit and delivered a speech. Wu Jiangxing, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering made a keynote speech.

Sui Jing pointed out that ICVs have emerged as a model and a vital engine of new quality productive forces. Resolutely implementing the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, the MIIT will ensure both high-quality development and greater security, and facilitate a security guarantee service system for V2X and ICVs in an integrated way, to empower safe development of the automotive industry. Efforts should be made to further build consensus and jointly promote the formulation of safety rules and standards, fostering greater synergy in establishing robust safety barriers for ICVs. Furthermore, there is a pressing need to enhance innovation and breakthroughs to deliver high-quality, high-performance products and services with greater security, thereby injecting stronger momentum into the secure supply for ICVs.Enhanced openness, mutual benefits, and international cooperation can serve as powerful drivers for building a secure ecosystem for ICVs.

Academician Wu Jiangxing delivered a keynote speech titled “Integrated Security Issues and Endogenous Security of Intelligent Connected Vehicles”. He introduced the definition of integrated security and challenges in engineering technologies, shared solutions to integrated security problems, and explained in detail the concepts, visions and practical paths to endogenous cyberspace security.

Philippe PRATS, Vice President of Automotive SegmentMarketing & Applicationsat STMicroelectronics, made a keynote speech on “Secure and Safe Semiconductor Devices for Connected NEV Vehicles”. He discussed European cybersecurity management practices, with a focus on how STMicroelectronics delivers semiconductor devices satisfying cybersecurity and functional security requirements of ICVs.

Zhang Ranmao, General Manager of China Unicom Smart Connection Technology Co., Ltd., delivered a keynote speech on “‘China Unicom’ the World, Security Escort, New Mission of Intelligent Network Security”. He analyzed security problems related to cloud, network, end and data, with a focus on China Unicom’s security protection system of “end-pipe-cloud integration”, and exploration into relevant industries.

Chen Yimin, Senior Vice President of Geely Holding Group, made a keynote speech on “The Path for Vehicle Enterprises to Build a Network and Data Security System”, introducing how the group builds cyber and data security systems, and its implementation strategies.

Wen Junpei, Senior Director of the Automotive Segment and Head of the VUE Business at Infineon Technologies Greater China Region, delivered a keynote speech on “Infineon Empowers the Mobility Ecosystem to Collaborate and Transform the Automotive Industry with Intelligent and Secure Connectivity”. He shared the market trends of the automotive industry, focusing on Infineon’s cyber and data security system solutions.

Zhang Zhen, Partner of Deloitte responsible for Cybersecurity and Data Compliance in the Automotive Industry, gave a keynote speech on “Cybersecurity and Data Compliance in the Automotive Industry”, discussing security and compliance risks and challenges faced by companies, and proposed suggestions to companies on building cybersecurity and data compliance management frameworks.

Gai Longjia, Co-President and COO of Neusoft Corporation, delivered a keynote speech on “Exploration and Practice of Intelligent Connected Vehicle Cybersecurity and Data Protection”, introducing the necessity of ensuring cybersecurity in the automotive industry, the current risks and challenges, as well as the practices and exploration of Neusoft.

Shen Zhang, Bureau Veritas Global Chairman of Automotive Network Security, gave a keynote speech on “Automotive Cyber Security - The Key Line of Defense to Protect Smart Travel”, with a focus on the significance of automotive cybersecurity. He also put forward suggestions for companies to deal with threats to cybersecurity.

The summit released the results of “Representative Cases of 2024 ICV Cyber and Data Security” previously collected by the Alliance of Internet of Vehicles Security. Five cases from NIO Co., Ltd., Vecentek, China Unicom Smart Connection Technology, China Mobile, and China Mobile Internet of Things were selected.

The summit has attracted nearly 500 audiences online and offline, and the attending experts had in-depth discussions on new ideas, initiatives, and trends of security management, technologies, and industrial development. It encourages industrial stakeholders to join hands to build the cornerstone of cyber and data security, ensuring the high-quality development of the V2X and ICV sectors.
